Calgary Dollars is a complementary currency in Calgary to encourage people to buy local and create community connections. There is a wide variety of local businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals that take Calgary Dollars, including REAP businesses like Lowen's Skincare. Calgary Dollars also holds Relocalize Fairs for members to buy and sell as vendors.

Anyone who applies can be a member of Calgary Dollars by creating a listing and filling out a survey to join via the Calgary Dollars website. Upon completion of this task, members will be mailed $20 in Calgary Dollars for free and can generate more Calgary Dollars by offering up services or items for sale.

Each month, Calgary Dollars issues Take Action Grants.These grants are designated for social and environmental projects in Calgary. Since 2006, Canadian dollars were contributed to match the Calgary Dollars by The Calgary Foundation (up to $1000 each).
