SUSTAINABILITY PROFILE (2014)
COVID-19 UPDATE: Employees working remotely. Collaborating with organizations including the Calgary Chamber, Tourism Calgary and Business Council of Alberta to work with all orders of government on their economic recovery and resiliency.
Calgary Economic Development's mission is to strategically influence the economic vitality and wellbeing of Calgary. Its mandate is to lead, facilitate and advance Calgary's economic development efforts to attract and retain business investment.
Calgary Economic Development believes in strong communities, and supports an array of initiatives throughout the city. This includes a partnership with the Calgary Foundation on the Neighbourhood Grants program -- wherein Calgary residents pitch ideas to enhance or improve the quality of life in their communities to receive $5,000 of funding.
Environmentally, Calgary Economic Development makes efforts to cut down on commuter congestion and pollution by encouraging employees to bike to work, and supporting WORKshifting -- which allows for all employees to work from home one day a week. All paper used in the office is FSC-certified, and the Telus Convention Centre has installed solar panels for green energy.
