COVID-19 UPDATE: The safety of their customers, employees, and volunteers is a top priority at WINS, you can shop knowing they are taking additional measures to provide a safe environment. They have increased sanitation and disinfecting routines with extra focus on high-touch and high traffic areas, along with wearing face coverings, social distancing, following customer limits set by the province of Alberta.

Women In Need Society is a social enterprise operating six thrift stores in Calgary. WINS invests its profits in programs that help local women and families to acquire the skills, knowledge, and resources to improve confidence and self-reliance. In 2020 they launched a bulk thrift store, MORE! along with an online thrift box service, TwiceNEW. The revenue from our thrift operations supports our programs, like House to Home, Retail Ready, Warehouse Ready and our five Community Resource Hubs. Today, people from all walks of life frequent our thrift stores knowing that their purchases and donations make a difference - right here, right now.

WINS’ four thrift stores operate on the basis of donated goods. Goods not sold or that are unsaleable are recycled. WINS invests its profits in the local community in programs that help women in need and their families. These women are newcomers to Canada, single mothers, women escaping domestic violence situations and women in transition looking to create a better life for themselves and their families. Through WINS’ six Family Resource Centres and Free Goods Referral Program, women have access to free basic needs items and opportunities to build their own skills and knowledge to increase self-reliance.

WINS is an environmentally conscious organization dedicated to repurposing, upcycling and recycling gently used items into social good. They are proud of their commitment to the environment and being able to divert over 1 million pounds of waste from landfills in 2015 alone. WINS uses BluPlanet Recycling to divert waste generated through its own store operations.
