Be Local businesses serving up in YYC Hot Chocolate Fest

Raising funds for Meals on Wheels with hot chocolate

Besides Valentine’s Day and Family Day, February brings with it the annual YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, where dozens of local restaurants, cafes, and chocolatiers concoct special cups of hot chocolate while raising funds for Meals on Wheels.

While you’re out seeking your next chocolatey fix, we encourage you to stop by the following Be Local businesses:

The historic restaurant is back in business after a destructive flood last fall. This year’s entry to the festival boasts “a flavour profile of fresh red berries and tang,” with a bright pink hue, served with house-made sorrel marshmallows rolled in toasted almonds.

Taking inspiration from a scene in The Simpsons Movie where Ned Flanders serves Bart Simpson an extravagant hot chocolate, Fiasco Gelato’s rendition uses their signature drinking chocolate, topped with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, and a (lovingly blowtorched) house-made marshmallow and waffle cone.

This punny beverage from one of Hotel Arts' two iconic restaurants is a spirited Vietnamese hot chocolate infused with 88 Vietnamese Coffee Stout and Tia Maria Coffee Liqueur, topped with whipped cream and garnished with grated nutmeg.

Happy sipping!
