Feed your soul and local community with these 5 Stampede Breakfasts

Stampede Breakfasts served by the REAP community

Can you smell the maple syrup in the air?

Stampede kicks off on July 4 this year, and with it comes many a free breakfast and barbecue to celebrate our city, its cowboy culture, and the greatest outdoor show on Earth. Here’s where you can find Stampede breakfasts hosted by REAP members and our friends in the community:

July 4: First Flip, presented by Tourism Calgary, Calgary Arts Development, Calgary TELUS Convention Centre, Calgary Economic Development and Platform Calgary -- Kicking off the onslaught of pancake goodness, this event comes with performances by Dandy Little Orchestra, Joe Nolan, Mariel Buckley, Tim Buckley, Green Fools and the Chinook Country Line Dancers.

July 4, 6, 8-10, and 12: Calgary Co-op Locations -- Pancakes and family fun abound at your local Co-op (click here for exact dates per location). While you’re there, seek out products by Lowen’s Skincare, such as their special edition Stampede-inspired lip balms to wet your whistle.

July 6: Vivo Night Market North -- co-presented by Thrive, Vivo Night Market North celebrates the Northern Hills communities and the makers, artists, and musicians who live there. Peruse the market (free entry as always) and nibble on a free barbecue dinner. Come early though, as the inaugural event last year brought in over 10,000 people!

July 12: Calgary Farmers’ Market Chili Cook-off -- Sample chili from local vendors, make a cash or credit donation to the Calgary Food Bank’s “Put the Boots to Hunger” campaign, and connect with makers in your community (we especially recommend visiting the Growing Co booth for stylish and ethical kids clothing!)

July 13: Greengate Garden Centre -- Featuring music by The Deputies, this traditional Stampede breakfast brings together the whole family at this family-owned garden centre. Consider making a donation to the Calgary Food Bank’s “Put the Boots to Hunger” campaign while you’re there.

Wishing you all a safe, fun, and delicious Stampede. Yahoo!
