Trico Changemakers Studio fosters growth and innovation across students and sectors
Creating systems change through business and beyond
Based out of Mount Royal University, the Trico Changemakers Studio is a social enterprise that offers co-working space and social impact facilitation for changemakers across all sectors.
“We are here because, more than ever, our world needs changemakers from across disciplines and sectors to address the complex social and environmental issues of our time,” says Skye Louis, Studio Administrator.
The modern, well-windowed space is home to over 30 different hand-picked members, from Mount Royal University students using their education to make a change, to REAP businesses like Human Elements, Juice Creative, Thrive, and Universal Access, and REAP itself – offering “social innovation facilitation, and connections to a local and global network of changemakers,” Skye adds.
Mount Royal University is deeply entrenched in social change. A designated Changemaker Campus by Ashoka U, an organization that recognizes the role of post-secondary institutions across Canada in fostering the growth of tomorrow’s leaders for social good, and a LEED-certified organization, it made logical sense for the campus to play home to the Trico Changemakers Studio.
Skye’s favourite part of her job is the “amazing people” who come to the studio every day, and looks forward to “seeing the community continue to grow and develop connections both on campus and beyond.”
On the immediate horizon, Trico Changemakers Studio is co-hosting a screening of the documentary The Social Shift next Tuesday afternoon with REAP, Thrive, and the Institute for Community Prosperity at Mount Royal University, continuing its mission to spread the word about social good, and celebrating doing business differently.
